Our Optima IPC Interlocking Planks are simple but effective interlocking metal cladding panels, that use a robust substructure and secondary support to make the planks part of a full rainscreen cladding system.
Our latest 3D model enables architects, installers and contractors alike to see in detail the substructure, interlocking mechanism and how the panels create a smooth, secret fix.
Click play on our 3D video above, and watch our IPC’s robust substructure slip perfectly into place using hands free brackets and an extruded aluminium T section. These create precisely levelled arrangements which will secure the interlocking panels in place.
One of the biggest benefits of using our interlocking panel system is the flawless secret fix it provides. In the video, we demonstrate how this is created through the use of interlocking flanges, which are fixed from the top down, and use a hidden long tail to hide the joints in the panels.
The side view of the panels also shows more closely how the panels interlock together, with a tension fit in action to prevent rattle.
There’s lots of versatility when you specify our interlocking panels for your project; the system is available in a range of widths from 150mm to 160mm, as well as thicknesses up to 2.0mm. You can also choose from a great selection of finishes, each of which bring different benefits to your project; these include aluminium (variants of which are anodised, PPC or precoat), zinc, copper or stainless steel.
Optima IPC is also one of our most tested systems. The panels have been tested in a range of different materials and module sizes at Vinci Technology Centre for wind load, serviceability, safety and soft body impact, and the system has achieved CWCT certification.
For examples of the IPC system in action, look no further than the Stirling Prize-winning Evelyn Grace Academy, design by Zaha Hadid. An innovative school which incorporates a running track effortlessly into its sweeping modern design, it uses the clean lines of the interlocking planks to stunning effect.
Another case study example which uses our IPC system is the Northern Ballet & Phoenix Dance Theatre in Leeds. A £12 million project in Leeds city centre, designed by Jacobs Architecture, the building uses our Black Antra Zinc IPC rainscreen panels to give the external elevations a lightweight, crisp façade and a long lasting, maintenance free finish.
