A history of testing and continuous improvement

Sotech’s commitment to authentic engineering capability has been witnessed over several years in the testing of products as they are being developed.

From the earliest Optima TFC designs tested at BRE, Garston for wind serviceability and safety, air permeability and water penetration for Erie Basin, Manchester project.

2015

During September, October and November 2015, nine test rigs covering the Optima product ranges were completed at Vinci Technology Centre, Leyton Buzzard all witnessed and being certified by CWCT. New certificates being issued will cover all previous testing.

Wind Turbine - windload tested rainscreen cladding

Extensive independent testing for positive and negative load testing, serviceability and safety, dynamic water test and soft body impact have been completed on our rainscreen systems over several years.

2008

LPCB fire test carried out in 2008 gaining LPCB Red Book Entry LPS1582 External Cladding fixed to and supported by a SFS wall.

LSP1582-1 Test on Sotech Optima TFC aluminium rainscreen with an additional channel used in conjunction with firebrake locations and Rockwall DuoSlab Insulation. Test report number 23825-1.

Classification of fire performance in accordance with BR 135:2003, Classification Report Number: 228203-1.

The test carried out at BRE is a BS8414 test consisting of a 9m tall tower representing an internal corner of continuous flat wall panels containing horizontal firebreaks at 2.5m centres.

A measured combustible load at the bottom of the wall is ignited, the first fire break has to hold for a minimum of 15 minutes with a second firebreak not being compromised at the 30-minute conclusion of the test when the fire has been put out.

Certificates cover only the exact arrangement as tested.

Warranties

For building longevity

Life expectancy of the product can be a minimum of 30 years and could be life expectancy of the building.

Warranty on the product finish will be dependent on location and subject to a questionnaire.
