Sotech recently worked with Arup Associates, Mace Contracts and Glass Solutions to provide bespoke ACM rainscreen cladding for BskyB’s new Believe in Better Building at their headquarters in London.
Designed to be a flexible space for offices, classrooms and events, the Believe in Better building (or BIBB) required a total of 2500sqm of Optima FC secret fix rainscreen panels in sunrise silver metallic Alucobond ACM, in lengths of up to 5.2 metres, which is well above industry average. We also provided 700sqm of fascias, soffits and window pods, anodised in Sky Blue UA160-0.
We worked closely on the design of the rainscreen for this project and utilised new manufacturing techniques with our existing machinery to create the longer length ACM panels. A specialised, bespoke carrier rail for the system was developed in order to ensure it worked effectively with the SIPS panels and within an extremely limited cladzone.
The sweeping long panels work well with the hanging glass and the window reveals under the soffits anodised in the Sky Blue creates a stunning aesthetic effect.
Graham Todd, Technical Sales Manager at Sotech, was heavily involved in the project and commented: “This was a fantastic project to work on; it was great to be involved in the panel design for the building, and to be able to provide such a range of bespoke systems. We’re extremely proud of the finished project.”
Sotech has invested heavily in sophisticated design and manufacturing technology and remains the only rainscreen manufacturer to offer a system that is both independently tested to CWCT standards and achieves LPCB Red Book accreditation.
