Approximately 400m2 of Optima TFC was selected for the refurbishment of the Vue Cinema in Walton-le-Dale, Preston.
Finished in PPC (in various Axalta colours), the modernisation of the building consists of a large new façade, constructed in black metal rainscreen cladding, projecting 3.8m from the main front elevation (width 16.8m, height of 12m). The extension forms a new entrance to the cinema.
As an economical alternative to a complete secret fix rainscreen, the Optima TFC rainscreen cladding system was selected because it seamlessly integrates with all other building façade elements. This was important as new glazing and lettering, and white and orange diagonal LED lights were inserted between the cladding lines (once the panels were fixed).
To ensure the panel joints aligned correctly, particularly due to the sloped nature of the main entrance, the Sotech team modelled the panels in 3D. The result is a contemporary and striking frontage.
Major refurbishment work was also completed inside the cinema.
Sotech worked closely with Range Roofing to engineer the striking façade and bring the concept to life. This is the first project Sotech has completed with Range and we are delighted with the outcome. We look forward to working with Range again in the future
