Sotech Apprenticeships

Sotech has continued its commitment to hiring apprentices by inviting level three Business and Administration apprentice Ellie-Mae Flint to join the team.

Ellie, who achieved her level three apprenticeship with Profound services, joins the Sotech team full time on a six-month contract. Ellie will be working from the company’s head offices in Peterlee.

Bringing on apprentices is a key part of Sotech’s recruitment strategy. As a company, Sotech has been employing apprentices since 1984 and more than half of the team once started as apprentices. Sotech is built on skill, dedication and commitment of apprentices.

In recognition of this approach, Sotech was announced as the regional winner of the North East National Apprenticeship Awards 2015, in the Medium Employer of the Year category.

Dawn Maddison, said “We are delighted to welcome Ellie to the team. Ellie will be working alongside me in the head office, supporting on accounts and administration duties. She will be learning how to build business relationships with customers and suppliers, working on all aspects of the sales and purchase accounts. Hiring apprentices is a longstanding tradition at Sotech. Over 50% of our workforce began their role as an apprentice. It’s a great way to help people gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their careers and we’re thrilled to contribute to that. As always, I’d like to personally thank Profound for their help in bringing Ellie into the team.”

Ellie, who recently completed her A/S levels in English Language, Geography and Criminology, decided to leave college to begin her career and gain more practical experience.

“I enjoy learning while working”, said Ellie, “It’s more interactive, you can get more involved in tasks and you feel like a member of staff”.

Ellie began her new role in August 2017
