Farnham Road Hospital is a healthcare development with a new £30 million, state of the art mental health facility in Guildford.
Working with Laing O’ Rourke as main contractors and installers, Sotech supplied 1600m2 of our Optima FC Secret Fix system for the Farnham Road project, manufactured in 3.0mm, 3103 grade aluminium for rainscreen cladding panels and window pods.
The panels were completed using a PPC finish, in bespoke colours which were chosen to match a Trespa specified colour and Sotech arranged for the use of these bespoke RAL colours in order to match the architect’s design intent. The PPC finish colours used on the project were Salmon LX17716, Bluish Grey RAL: LX17715, Champagne RAL: LX17713 and Mid Beige RAL: LX17717. The coloured panels were installed in a pattern to create a mosaic effect on the main external façade.
Seven buildings were demolished to create space for the new two storey facility, which will house four adult mental health wards. The structure was built using a huge 50 metre crane to assemble the pre-manufactured elements, and was completed with a ‘topping out ceremony’ in December 2015, where Laing O’ Rourke poured out the last layer of concrete at the very top of the building.
The new facility replaces the Noel Lavin Unit at Farnham Road, and is a major investment initiative to enable the hospital to provide the most up to date mental health care in environments designed for therapy and recovery. Our showroom and learning zone is open to specifiers and contractors, where our full range of Optima rainscreen cladding systems is on display, and you can view the colours and finishes available for yourself.
