Sotech were engaged by Chemplas to produce over 600 square meters of Optima TFC Landscape Panels for the build of the £8.4m state-of-the-art leisure facility in Grimsby.
Whilst being the most economical rainscreen solution, the engineering of the Optima TFC rainscreen system retains the benefits of a drained and ventilated façade. Superior manufacturing techniques ensured there was no build-up of metal thicknesses at the cruciform joint and accurate installation was both simple and speedy as there is no precise coordination between panel and substructure as there would be with a hook on system.
The panels were formed from 2mm Aluminium, PPC finished in RAL 7035, 7040 and 7042, giving a beautiful finish to the unique building.
Sotech worked closely with the architect throughout the project and provided various cost options and numerous samples. We wanted to reflect the appearance of the initial brief, in line with the budget. In particular, we were able to provide expert guidance regarding module layout for long panels, corners and reveal abutments, which feature in this building.
Ken Basnett Technical Bid Manager said: “Many finishes and system options were considered before a final choice was made. The project proceeded smoothly as a result of early involvement by Sotech and we’re really pleased with the smart, uniform finish. The Optima TFC system met the client’s budget whilst maintaining a high quality fit and finish.”
The new facility includes a 25 metre, eight lane swimming pool with learner pool, sauna, steam room and associated wet changing facilities. There’s also a 60-station gym with new Matrix equipment, studio space and associated dry changing facilities.
The Optima TFC system is fully independently tested and accredited to CWCT standards.
