We are extremely excited to have been part of the groundbreaking new leisure and entertainment complex in Birmingham, the NEC Resort World.
Sotech supplied 4500m2 of Optima TFC Through Fix Cassette rainscreen cladding system in 3mm Aluminium with a PPC finish for this project. This consisted of a huge number of portrait cladding panels, produced in various shades of white and grey, mixed together on the final façade to create an extraordinary geometric effect spanning the entire elevation of this giant, 7-storey construction
Working with installers Lakesmere from the early stages of the project, planning was key to ensure the manufacturing and installation process ran smoothly.
To save valuable installation time on site for our customer, and allow us to control the phased deliveries of the rainscreen cladding panels to site, we incorporated a bespoke jointing detail into our Optima TFC system which allowed multiple, differently coloured panels to be assembled together prior to installation, and delivered to site as one complete unit.
This is a mixed use development, launched with the aim of making the Birmingham NEC a 24/7 destination for visitors and tourists. With an area of over 55,000sqm, this mammoth complex will house facilities including a four star hotel, multi-screen cinema, casino, shopping centre, car park and a range of restaurants.
Only very recently opened to the public, the new £150 million leisure destination was funded by Malaysian company Genting Group, and will undoubtedly bring a huge amount of excitement and transformation to the city of Birmingham.
Sotech has invested heavily in sophisticated design and manufacturing technology.
The training facility and showroom at Sotech is open to specifiers and contractors, where all of our Optima Rainscreen Systems are on display alongside the widest selection of materials and finishes, including pre and post coat aluminium, ACM, Copper, Zinc, Stainless Steel and Anodised.
All Sotech Optima Rainscreen Systems have been independently tested to meet CWCT rigorous specification for rainscreen.
