1300m2 of Optima Horizontal Cladding (HC) was chosen for the brand-new Ayr Academy School, a £25m new build on the town’s Craigie Estate in South Ayrshire.
As Sotech’s first Optima HC project in Scotland, the team worked closely with the Procladd design team from the start meaning they were able to work together to propose a system which was both cost effective and easily adapted to the Architect’s panel layout.
Selected because it offers a stable rainscreen system for landscape applications, Procladd`s site team were extremely happy with the Optima HC system and in their words said: “It was one of the best systems they had fitted”.
Fully tested and certified to meet CWCT specifications, Optima HC is a cost effective rainscreen solution which was developed as an alternative to a complete secret fix system. The superior manufacturing techniques ensure the accuracy of the panel’s size and form, allowing a pristine appearance with no build up of metal thickness at the cruciform joint.
Hosting up to 1000 pupils, the new facility includes two learning plazas, a multi-purpose hall, twin gyms, a fitness suit and sports pitches delivered by Kier Construction. Ayr Academy doubles as a community hub, offering space for community events, sports and other functions.
Sotech are proud to be associated with such a stunning building which will play such a positive role in young people’s lives.
