Rainscreen is a cladding system consisting of an outer weather-resistant skin fixed to a primary structure, either new or existing, using fully adjustable brackets. This allows insulation (with integral or separate breather membrane) to be pinned back to the primary structure, leaving a ventilated cavity 25mm minimum to comply with CWCT requirements and 38mm minimum to comply with NHBC standards. This ventilated cavity must be present in all systems behind the primary aesthetic weathering façade.
The fully drained and ventilated system allows for any ingress from driven rain to be channeled and drained, allowing any residual moisture to be taken care of by a natural thermocycling process.
New primary construction methods using metal stud built-up walls and structural insulated panel systems (SIPS) are fast becoming the preferred method of construction as they can provide increased speed of erection with greater thermal efficiency. Providing a dry envelope much earlier in the construction program.
By embracing ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Standard) Sotech continues to invest in environmental improvements to our bespoke cladding systems wherever possible including recyclable prime materials, energy efficiencies and packaging reductions.
At Sotech, we have two highly equipped production facilities totaling 65,000 sqft. These are dedicated to the manufacture of rainscreen cladding panels and fabrications. We manufacture all our own cladding, flashings and other elements, all on some of the very latest manufacturing machinery, including one of the few Pullmax 720 machines in.
For us productivity and accuracy are paramount to success as manufacturers. That’s why all our punch, shear, press and rolling machines are 4000mm – larger than the industry standards.
All materials are securely packaged on dedicated pallets, each pallet marked with the customer, project, pallet number and delivery note number for easy identification both in the works and onsite. A schedule of components for each pallet will be printed, laminated and attached to the pallet and the pallets are shrink-wrapped to give additional protection to the materials during transit. Part load and dedicated transport services are available to give a UK and European.
