2 CPD’S TO CHOOSE FROM

Take an in depth look at the main safety considerations when specifying rainscreen cladding, understand what is required to meet fire safety regulations and the full range of systems, materials and finishes available for your next project.

Presented by Sotech’s Regional Specification Managers, this live CPD training will explain:

  1. The main safety considerations when specifying rainscreen cladding;
  2. The exact requirements of fire safety regulations; and,
  3. The full range of fire safe systems, materials and finishes available for your next project.
“I thought I knew quite a lot about rainscreen cladding before I attended Simran’s CPD. She drilled down really deeply into some essential topics, including fire classification ratings, fixing types, recyclability and the use of lighter support rails to lower prices. More of the same calibre please!” Felix Mara, Architect, Hale Architecture.

What’s covered in the CPD training?

Approved by RIBA and presented by SOTECH’s regional sepcification managers, this live CPD training will explain:

  • The top three safety priorities when specifying rainscreen.
  • The latest fire safety regulations in the UK and how to ensure compliance regarding the height, use and position of the building.
  • Exactly how the findings of the Hackitt Report affect the industry and your next project.
  • The testing and certifications available to comply with building regulations, including compliance with Approved Document B section B4, calorific values and classification rating.
  • Design considerations when specifying such as using BIM and understanding performance requirements.
  • Safety priorities when specifying rainscreen cladding including the latest fire safety regulations and the differences between A1 and A2 materials.
  • Top considerations for design and sustainability in the rainscreen cladding sector
  • The full range of system, material and finish options available through Sotech, and what to consider with each.
  • The technical support available from the expert team at Sotech.
  • We will also talk through several award-winning case studies and what made them special and we will be on hand to answer any and all questions throughout the presentation and at the end.

Why join?

This brand new Riba approved CPD will not only open interesting conversations about the use and function of rainscreen cladding in your next project, but show you exactly what it takes to be compliant, safe and stylishy unique!

  • Get a full understanding of the latest building and fire regulations for the safe specification of rainscreen cladding.
  • Understand the full range of rainscreen cladding solutions and materials, from secret fix and through fixed, to anodised, PPC and ACM, and which solution is right for your next project.
  • Ask project specific questions to experts who can give you guidance directly.

Thank you for the CPD you gave at our office Simran. Both the content and your presentation were perfectly pitched” Yeon Barrow, Senior Technician, Pollard Thomas Edwards

UNDERSTAND HOW THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY CONTRIBUTES TO CLIMATE CHANGE AND HOW RAINSCREEN CLADDING CAN ADD SUSTAINABLE VALUE AT EVERY STAGE OF THE BUILDING LIFE CYCLE.

Presented by Sotech’s Regional Specification Managers, this live CPD training will explain:

  1. The urgency of the climate change emergency and what is required of architects, designers and manufacturers on the road to 2030 and 2050, including key changes in regulations and new movement guidelines.
  2. Definitions of key terms such as net zero and decarbonisation, and what they mean for the construction industry.
  3. The benefits of cladding as a sustainable solution, with a thorough run through of the benefits over other materials, plus a detailed breakdown of key materials and finishes including life cycles and sustainable benefits of each.
  4. Opportunities for online and VR working, including the opportunity to produce less wastage through 3D simulations, complete building mocks ups and VR immersive technology.
“The core premise of sustainability is being able to meet our own needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” Simran Thiara, Southern Specification Manager.

What’s covered in the CPD training?

Approved by RIBA and presented by SOTECH’s regional sepcification managers, this live CPD training will explain:

  • The urgent need to design for a more sustainable future, in light of an ever-increasing shift towards sustainable design.
  • How rainscreen cladding can add sustainable value at every stage of the building life cycle as well as key industry trends such as decarbonization, net zero, embodied and operational carbon, EPD certification, and how all of these can be incorporated into design and specification to reduce emissions.
  • How a green building can reduce carbon emission and the impact it has on the environment compared to non-sustainable methods.
  • How digital platforms have transformed the industry and explain how the alignment of BIM and VR integrate with sustainable design.
  • How to select the most sustainable materials and finishes addressing the three pillars of sustainability – environmental, social, and economic – as well as how to meet government and industry commitments.
  • Changes in regulations, and new movement guidelines which need to be met by 2030.
  • Life cycles of key materials including aluminium, stainless steel, copper and zinc, and the sustainable benefits each material.
  • How with VR and other online and 3D modes of working can reduce wastage by enabling specifiers to make key changes before the project is built.
  • The presentation will include a run through of key projects which have been won BREEAM/LEEED awards.

Why join?

It has been reported that there is more CO2 in the atmosphere today than at any point in the past two million years. Companies are being challenged by the greater population and through government policy to contribute to the reduction of CO2 through the creation of green buildings and sustainable working practices.

By 2030, all new buildings must operate at net zero carbon, and by 2050, 100% of buildings must operate at net zero carbon.

In answer to this challenge, sign up to learn how can rainscreen cladding create sustainable value, and:

  • Get a full understanding of the climate change emergency and what is required in building design on the road to 2030 and 2050.
  • Understand the key terms including net zero and decarbonisation, and what they mean for the construction industry.
  • Learn more about the systems, materials and finishes available, and the sustainable benefits of each.
  • Ask project specific questions to experts who can give you guidance directly.

“The construction industry contributes significantly to climate change, accounting for 40% of worldwide greenhouse gas emissions. The purpose of the CPD is to educate specifiers on the urgent need to design for a more sustainable future, and show them exactly how they can select the most sustainable materials and finishes for the future. To do this, we go into depth on the rainscreen materials and finishes available, showing the environment impact of each, as well as small changes that can add up to a significant reduction in CO2 emissions.” Samantha Porter, Northern Specification Manager.
