Hull Royal Infirmary was originally opened in 1967, and has recently received an investment of over £8 million pounds to provide new windows and an external faCade for the 160ft tower block.
Installed by Glass and Framing Solutions, Sotech were contracted to manufacture a bespoke Optima FC secret fix hook on rainscreen system to be used at a high level, as well as 3,500 sqm of column casings for this overcladding project.
Designed as a complete refurbishment of the outside of the existing Hull Royal Infirmary building, all of the rainscreen provided was produced in 3mm thick, 3103 grade aluminium with a polyester powder coated finish, and the column casings were specifically designed to be rigid enough to withstand the weight of window cleaning baskets running up and down the building.
Duncan Taylor, Deputy Director of Infrastructure and Development says: “We’re very excited about this project and trust that patients and staff alike will consider the finished article a real visual improvement.”
