Hessle High School - Optima TFC Rainscreen

Sotech are proud to have been involved in the £18.5 million rebuild of Hessle High School and Sixth-Form College in East Yorkshire. Previously, the school was split over two sites. Following the rebuild, the school now operates from one site, which includes new science labs, ICT and teaching areas and sports facilities for up to 1,550 pupils, including 230 students in the sixth form.

Sotech was engaged by Chemplas Limited – the installer – to recommend a discreet system which allowed 500 square meters of rainscreen panels to be fixed in vertical recesses. This worked well within our Optima TFC system.

Specifically, the client wanted large format corner panels, which had to be manufactured in two halves, and internally bolted. Superior manufacturing techniques ensured the accuracy of panel’s size and form leaving even recesses of pristine appearance.

The rainscreen panels were finished in 4mm Alucobond ACM Midnight Copper. The eye-catching effect is created by the changing colour gradients of the spectra colour’s with iridescent highlights.  Bold glitter and shine effects gives a beautiful, sparkling finish.

Jamie Smith, Sotech estimator commented: “The project looks fantastic. The Midnight Copper from Alucobond Spectra range gives the rainscreen a clean, reflective modern look”.

The school is 1 of 5 projects in the region to get underway as part of the government’s £2.4 billion Priority School Building Programme (PSBP) to rebuild or refurbish 260 of the schools in England in the worst condition.
