Sotech provided over 2000sqm of Aluminium Rainscreen for Sheffield University new multi-story carpark.
The scheme included Sotech Optima IPC interlocking plank in an anodized finish and Optima FC Secret Fix Rainscreen and bespoke perforated panels in a ppc finish.
Sotech worked very closely with the architects, advising on the best solution and were involved on the project over a two year period. Sotech advised on all aspects of the cladding including free area of the perforated panels and the merits of different finishes.
Optima IPC, FC and bespoke perforated panels were chosen as they achieved the necessary joint widths and aesthetics to satisfy the design.
Sotech perforations were chosen as they allowed the required free area for the car park ventilation and they were pre-punched then post coated with a ppc finish. As you can see from the photographs the perforated panels were raked in all different angles and mimic the position of the internal structural frame.
The new multi-story car park opened in Mach 2016 and includes 561 car parking spaces in total. The car park plays an enormous part in transforming the public spaces around the campus. It provides much-needed public parking in this part of the city and is already being extremely well-used.
