The Centre for Window and Cladding Technology (CWCT) is one of the UK’s leading authorities on information in the field of building envelopes and glazing. The centre helps to set industry standards, and is based at the University of Bath.

Founded in 1989, the CWCT now has over 310 member companies from all aspects of the construction industry, including clients, architects, contractors and manufacturers such as Sotech. Members are able to receive advice and consultancy on industry standards from the centre itself.

The CWCT’s research and guidance has a huge impact on the industry, and is delivered through training programmes for those involved in the design, specification and construction of building envelopes, CPD certificates, and even university courses in Bath.

There’s a full research and development programme which supports the CWCT, which is supported by funding from both the industry and the Government. Previous research projects include ‘The use of double facades to facilitate demand controlled ventilation’, ‘The use of BMS to control facades’, and ‘New façade techniques – removing cold bridges’.

As a company that designs and manufactures rainscreen cladding and architectural facades, being aligned with the CWCT’s industry standards is extremely important to us and our clients. We’re committed to providing our clients with the highest quality of rainscreen cladding product, as well as offering our expert technical advice.

One way that we ensure the calibre of our rainscreen systems is by investing heavily in testing, product development and accreditations, so our clients know that they can trust in our methods and products to bring their designs to life.

Every single one of our exclusive Optima range of rainscreen cladding systems have been independently tested at the Vinci Technology Centre and have gained accreditation from the CWCT.

Our other accreditations include approval from Redbook Live and NBS Plus, ISO assurance, and we are an active member of the Rainscreen Works organisation.

Sotech’s ethos regarding the testing, development and accreditation of our rainscreen cladding is built in to our culture, and will be ongoing both now and in the future to ensure we provide only the best possible solutions for our projects.
