Exhibition Centre Liverpool - Cassette Rainscreen Cladding system in 3mm Aluminium 3103 material, with a PPC finish

The brand new Exhibition Centre Liverpool is a £66 million pound, state of the art development on Liverpool’s waterfront, and is the only purpose-built, interconnected arena, convention and exhibition centre in Europe.

Sotech provided 4000m2 of bespoke cassette rainscreen cladding system for Liverpool’s new landmark, which is all of the external cladding on the 4 main elevations of the building.

We manufactured the cassette rainscreen system in 3mm Aluminium 3103 material, and used a PPC finish so as to give the rainscreen cladding a 25 year marine grade warranty – this was required to ensure longevity due to the waterside location of project.

Denton Corker Marshall were the architects for this groundbreaking new space, with Populous providing the concept design. The specification saw materials for the main facades being chosen to reflect on Liverpool’s industrial heritage and historic dock structures, and one of the main features of the build is its public face, with is a glazed, curved ribbon wall. Another highlight of the building is its walkthroughs with floor to ceiling glass windows, which give an incredible view over the Mersey and the city skyline.

We also worked with installers Keyclad on this project, with the end client being ISG Plc.

The Exhibition Centre Liverpool is interconnected with the BT Convention Centre and Echo Arena, all of which are part of The ACC Liverpool Group. As stated on the exhibition centre’s website, their vision is “we strive to be at the heart of Liverpool’s cultural and economic success, and our passion for the city is matched only by the commitment we show to our customers.

“Through the venues we operate and the services we provide, our focus is to attract business and visitors to Liverpool, contributing to the long-term growth and prosperity of our group, our city and its people.”

The venue increases Liverpool’s capacity for hosting major events, and is expected to bring millions of pounds into the city’s economy – and we’re extremely proud to have been a part of it.

Work on the Exhibition Centre Liverpool started in January of 2014, and the centre officially opened in September of 2015.
